This summer I have really discovered new ways to work out. One of my faves is rock climbing. I went last weekend and I was so sore that night that I could barely move, BUT before you shy away from it, it was the good kind of sore that you only get when you work out muscles you never use.
There are two kinds of climbing. One that requires you to use a rope and have a skill called belaying - or - you can do what is called bouldering, where you don’t climb higher than you are comforatable falling and you can hang upside down and do other cool stuff like that.
I thought that you could just go into it and be pretty good, but there is actually alot of technique involved and in order to follow the marked paths you have to be pretty good. We tried to start out with what we thought was a pretty average one a V3….NOT AVERAVGE AT ALL! It was so hard make sure you start out with something easy like a VB course for example. These ones are much more manageable.
Beware before you go though, that your fingers and forearms will be sore for a day or two and you might feel like you are going to drop anything you pick up. (This created quite a problem for me when I was trying to make dinner that night and I was holding a very sharp knife.) Some strecthing and a good dose of advil really did the trick.
Happy Eating!
