1. Fruity Fiber

Pears have a surprising amount of fiber in them. Half a pear has 3 grams, as much as one slice of whole grain bread.

I love adding pears to salads and sandwiches. They are perfect additions to baby green salads with crumbly goat cheese or paired with turkey on whole wheat.

The best pear salad I have ever had though was when I was in Rome last summer with my family. It was a delicious appetizer and start to a meal and it is so easy to make.

    Pear, Parmesan and Honey salad

    You need:

    1 ripe pear

2 oz of freshly shaved Parmesan cheese

    2 oz of honey

All you need to do is slice the pear into thin slices, top with the shaved parm and drizzle the honey over the top.

The combination of the sweet honey and fresh pear with the salty cheese is the perfect start to a summer pasta meal, or a light lunch.
